Siege McCormick

Siege waved to Hitomi as they left Buck’s workshop, feeling frustrated and annoyed. Though she rarely let these things get to her these unidentified goons were really getting under her skin. They had made several seemingly unrelated raids over the past several weeks, and most of the raids were unsuccessful thanks to Siege and Hitomi. Quite a team, they were.

Siege headed to her quarters and closed her door, wanting some quiet time to meditate. She did not like to be annoyed. Anything other than serene, really. Making sure she didn’t hurt someone or something she didn’t mean to took a lot of control and focus. She went to her meditation pillow and gracefully settled into the familiar lotus position. Breathing deeply, she cleared her mind went through the exorcises to let go of her frustration. Today was difficult, as she was not only worried about who these goons were, but also that Hitomi got caught today. It just didn’t happen.

Hitomi was most likely just as worried about this case as she was. Still, Hitomi was her best friend, and Siege McCormick does not take threats to her best friend, ANY friend, well at all. She was fiercely loyal to her friends, all of who she considered family. Without any concrete way to let go of her worry of her friend, she resolved to talk with her about it tomorrow. Similarly, letting go of her frustration on these raids was not going away until they got to the bottom of it. So she took another deep cleansing breath and went over the mission in her mind to try and bring out any details she may have missed at the time. This is something she has gotten very good at over the last several years.

The strangest thing about these men, is the seemingly random nature of the thefts. Or rather, lack there of. The men come in, ransack the target, then leave. In fact, this was the first time Hitomi and Siege had seen them in person instead of on surveillance footage. They seem to be quite well armed and supplied, to the point where they have a variation on the phased plasma blasters Hitomi invented and sold to the military. If you can call being blackmailed selling...

Siege was interrupted by a knock at her door and a polite rumbling cough. She raised her head and blinked owlishly at her visitor. “Hello, Buck.”

Her visitor smiled paternally, “C.J. Sorry to bother you.” Buck was a barrel chested bear of a man, once muscular body softening with age. “I wanted to ask you in private.”

She nodded. “Hitomi. I think it was an accident. Neither of us expected them to be patrolling the docks so aggressively.”

Buck nodded. His eyes showed a bit of doubt, but were also filled with worry for her and Hitomi.

“Honestly, Buck.” Siege said softly. “These guys are, ah, vexing.”

He laughed at her obvious understatement. “I’m just concerned. Keep an eye on her.”

Siege nodded. “Always do,” she said simply.
