... When A Plan Fails Miserably
“These three just stand there in the center of the tent.”
“General Douglas says they’re not really a threat.” The airman shrugged. “I trust the General, don’t you, Potter?”
“Well, sure, Bunch, but you heard about those two chicks, didn’t you?”
“Oh come on, Potter. You heard it from that MP, what’s his name, Starts right?” Potter nodded, “The guy was having fun with you. Nobody that tiny can be that strong.”
“Just like there’s no such thing as an Egyptian tomb in the Grand Canyon?”
Bunch laughed, “That slip of a girl being stronger than a champion body builder is a matter of physics and the human body. And we’re not supposed to know about the tomb, dumb ass, so don’t mention that again.”
“Yeah, yeah.” He was quiet for a moment while he took a gulp of the awful coffee the camp had. Typical military coffee. “Hey, the poker game still on tonight?”
“Sure. I think I convinced Thomas to play for actual money this time. Man, for a bad ass Marine, the guy sure is chicken with his pay.” Bunch noticed Potter staring hard at the screen. “What? I told you not to worry.”
“No, the Asian chick is playing with her belt. Fiddling with something,”
“If it’s not the buckle, I don’t really care, Potter.”
“Uh…”
“What?” Now Bunch was getting annoyed. He turned to see the feeds to the tent down.
“What the hell?” He grabbed the walkie-talkie and radioed for guards to check it out.
“Still think they’re no threat?”
“Shut up, Potter.”

They had to move quickly. Slipping the small razor from inside the belt, Hitomi activated the miniature signal blocker at the same time. As soon as she did, she slashed open the back of the tent. It took longer than she wanted, but soon it was big enough for the three of them to slip out.
“Okay, I think our best bet is to head north. If I remember correctly, there’s a few caves that way.” Mitchell looked like a deer watching an oncoming train.
“Alright, stick close to us and follow our lead. We don’t have a lot of time.” CJ gave his hand a squeeze and clapped Hitomi on the shoulder. Her friend nodded and quickly glanced around the corner before sprinting to the north. As they ran, they heard the guards in front of the tent shout.
“Dammit. We’d better pick it up,” Hitomi muttered. She picked up speed, knowing CJ would be doing the same behind her. She veered north, and nearly ran into a wall of guns. “Oh hell.”
CJ and Mitchell stopped short behind her, and she heard more footfalls come up. In front of her, the soldiers parted and General Douglas swaggered up to stand right in front of her.
“You know, I was really just looking for a reason to get rid of you three. Thanks for giving it to me. Since we’re closing up the tomb anyway, we might at well kill four birds with a pile of explosives. Secure them and take them to the tomb.”
